Under The Bridge In Del Rio, Texas USA
Under the bridge in Del Rio are stopped, stuck, stationed
Approximately 540 rooms, 658 windows, and 850 doorways. All to house the 435 lumps of dried glue and 100 paper weights we call the US Congress.
He was a merchant selling condos and penthouses
Then switched to sell dreams of a new America
Let's make America great again was slogan he chose
Gullible masses hooked by pack of lies and half truths
Intelligent, diligent, on top with perks
People from high places wanted me in victory
The letter grades, the letters of proof, accomplishments
The water looked so good, too good
But my heart, mind, and soul
This is a special day because it's Veterans Day.We celebrate because certain people fought for the USA.Veterans put their lives on the line so that we can be free.Veterans are important to you and they're important to me.
By the time you heard it was too late
A man is dead the bullets didn’t wait
His eyes are closed, his feet are cold, and his life is no longer connected to his soul
I was your ant
and you were my shoulder
We shared so much memories
and crashed down the walss
but these walls will forever stand firm
and these crosses will remind of our lost
It's appalling,
that the government has no problem controlling a woman's body
but refuses to control guns.
It's insane,
the sheer ignorance and deranged blame...
The pursuit of dreams is fucking bullshit
Unless you dream of becoming exactly what the colleges can give you
Or capitalistic America
Or anyone
Moonlight streaked
Through the rocket smoke
Like blood rinsed through
A butcher shop drain.
And just like that
They silence the disposable
For we are merely a resource for warmongers.
All around
What is love?
The world can't answer this question.
The world says its conditional.
Its temporary.
Its greedy.
Its lust.
But love isn't those things.
Love is unconditional.
You came unto me
Because you love me
And because I love you
I will protect you
And because you love me
You will defend me at every opportunity
And because I love you
Work harder for your dreams
They say.
Believe me, if effort was success
I'd be rich.
Instead I'll punch the clock,
Do the job,
Do the other job,
And studdy the trade all night
So that one day
Lead hands,
Too heavy to move,
I would have built you a mountain.
But
I no longer care.
I just have one thing to say.
“Fuck you.”
I was bleeding
stripes
Long exposure trees
and shadows
Freaky black things
Looking
Beautiful
diamonds against red and blue
green
Little miss reddy
Momma told her get ready
Grab her basket in handy
So she could go see her granny
She was feeling so canny
A lot of food she had plenty
Dear feminists.
I'm sorry for your losses, you tried hard.
But despite all your efforts to rule the world,
you are still a slave.
Just like me.
Every black man, white man, and woman of every race.
Sadness floats like dust through the air.
I can feel it on my skin.
And sadness like dust can be seen.
You can see it in contrast to the light.
If we had no light,
We would have no beams of dust.
As one, we are the people.
As one, we are the world power.
As one, We were once the United States of America.
Slowly, but oh! so slowly...
The rivers came,
angered,
shunned,
alone.
I see a grand institution
Separate yet I'm still one of the gears
Smokestacks pouring out CO2 pollution
Been doing so for over 200 years
Enough, why don't we take the lead on clean green energy?
Living under the 50 stars,
Hoping and searching for the American Dream,
A nice family with a nice house with a nice car,
Walking down the street with a soda and some change,
Stop there!
From a time of strife,a nation was born of freedom.
Ideals placed on parcement, now is know across the globe.
For a nation is for the people, yet the people make the nation.
Protected
Strong
The flag ripples in the wind
so beautiful, frail, strong
like our soldiers
starting as frail beautiful people
First, they robbed, killed, and enslaved the Arawaks,
They smothered the indigenous with Smallpox blankets,
And they built an economy on the scarred backs of slaves.
Then they blazed a trail of tears,
Oh, say can't you see?
I must fight for my life.
I'll escape from this hell,
dodging blows from your beatings.
I will never be free
to walk out through the night.
I'd be tossed in a cell,
America the beautiful
America the great
The country many flee to
For their own sake.
The poverty, the rebels,
The robbed, the racism
The depressed, the jobless,
From day one, boys are taught to treat women with respect.
These boys then watch their fathers vote for a man who claims you must “treat women like shit”.
Round and round the wheel of time goes;
Where she stops, nobody knows.
As tides come red and pebbles turn black.
Name a virtue which we today lack.
We have TVs, and treadmills, and shiny things too,
My America is red;
Cherry lemonade by the side of a pool
In the summer of my childhood
Lips stained with sugary popsicles and fresh watermelon.
It is red like Coca Cola;
The kind from glass bottles
I believe in this country
That anything is possible
No matter where you stand
You can rise
I have dealt with challenges
That have tried to bring me down
And have been at my lowest
need to be made in the great US of A a great democracy was ruined by greed and rich in a powerful way a democracy corrupted by the money sucking machine, taxes the middle class so hard in hopes of wiping the nation debt clean, we need to stop bei
Sometimes I wonder what it’d be like if I was white
I believe my life would completely change if I was white
I wouldn’t be closely watched as I walk through a store, if I was white
She is a land mass like no other,
She is the Nation of Power,
She embraced this misfit foreigner,
Like a caring Mother She molded me...
molded me to pursue The American Dream.
Land of the FREE
All good all bad it's never just that easy
Once great, great again? Please try and believe me
o say, can you see the walls rising to isolate us?
by the light of missiles and violence. the problems will turn to ash, ash, ash.
poisoning ash, killing our earth.
what so proudly we hailed as a great change for America.
“Oh say! can you see
By the dawn’s early light.”
A land of inequities,
And people cowering in fright.
Masses of refugees
Come home to this sight.
A loose grip on a wheel
Used to guide a machine
A titan fist drives an upheaval
of frustration into a raveen
Cultural Pride is like picking sides
Its hard to get out of it
It will get around you
My country is great, I'm free to be
Republican, Democrat, Independent
My county is great, I'm free to be
Christian, Muslim, or Nothing
My country is great, I'm free to be
Hetero, Homo, or Asexual
America was created for all
No matter what size even short or tall
Yet not everyone is treated the same
Throughout the years there has been little to no change
The demand for equality is great
The class started with the line
"First they came for the Jews"
And eyes refused to meet mine
"First they came for the Jews"
Bubbles across my desk
In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue
The Native Americans called this place home, but they were not free to continue on
They were not free to stay where they had been
I once believed in the American Dream. Now its dead, like Malcolm and the King. I have a dream. One day, freedom will ring.
Oh Beautiful for the same-sex couples who get married without judgment
Spacious skies that contain no bombs to harm other countries
Waves of grain and fruited plains that feed all of the hungry
Farm these bodys, and harvest these men!
We are a nation of tax producing hens.
Free in this pen, the field hides our fence.
The illusion of choice makes us feel human.
I spun a web from death bead threads.
those dreaded ends of sheets to shreds.
If you see the way that I am going,
My friend you must know where I went.
my father's eyes arered, white, and blue.third generation immigrant,he is proud of what he has done,of what this country's allowed him to become.
Land of the free and home of the brave,
A place with endless opportunities that outsiders crave,
A nation where the flag of red, white, and blue, constantly wave,
This is America.
I walk into the coffee shop like I usually do
As I ask for the usual tea and croissant
I see in the corner the conflict of red and blue.
A cage of columns and seating,
‘Neath a ceiling of technicolor light
The crowd has gathered eagerly,
Cheering for the fight,
Dear Mr. President
By: Princesa A. Santiago
Dear Mr. President
thanks to you this country has never been greater,
Every morning at the beginning of class
We all rise and stand as a mass
Pledging to our country's flag
But for many, it can become such a drag
To realize that we won't pledge any more
Let the sun shine down without being scared,
let the birds sing free without any care,
let there be a languid day, and may it be fair,
When did the stars stop shining?
When did they disappear.
Why is everyone always finding,
A thing to find wrong here.
The blood on our flag,
adds to the foundation of our land.
Hello,
I’m not a coon or a savage
And I don’t live in the projects or eat chicken and watermelons for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
No, I don’t live on the “block” and sell dope.
America made me,
half believing in my dreams
half knowing I would have to fight for my life
battling the words meant to kill me,
giants spitting words
I
Hi there! Please go away now!
You don’t belong here!
You don’t look like us,
You don't sound like us, and
You don’t do things like us!
Oh crown thy good in brotherhood
and sisterhood.
Crown the days the weeks the months
we spend with our backs bent
over the stoves and our hips
holding our children.
Crown us Queens,
I am a Banner Singer.
I know every note and every rhythm.
At every game, under the bright stadium lights,
I sing.
No one is prouder than me,
to sing of my country, for my country.
Maine is ME
I'm diverse.
A bit of a rocky coastline.
Blistering cold yet
Delighfully warm.
Spontaneus and changing
Like New England weather
Unpredictable. Different from the others.
Good Morning America!
Land of the free, home of the brave,
and the founder of the freedom that so many crave.
The stars in the sky, as bright as they gleam
“You’ve got it easy,” says the baby boomer in the home they bought for $200,000 at 27 years old
“with your internet and mobile phones!” it says waving a college diploma through the air like a flag.
I am America, and I am the greatest country on Earth
I take pride in my journey, destined for power since birth
Like a mosaic, I am made of many stones and pieces
Together as one, the American spirit never ceases
America is an awesome place
The melting pot of the world
A stew of people from every race
The citizens come in every size and every shape
And they all came to the land of opportunity
Darkness falls upon my face,
As I walk I leave no trace
My mind is glazed but awake
I know my life is at stake
I take one look to my right
As a sailor clutches his gun tight
Steadily we advance
I am from sweat and hard work,
from the searing heat of summer
and the freezing chill of winter.
I am from the horse kicked dirt,
and the cattle-branded smoke blowing in the wind.
I once saw a veteran, coming down from his truck to his wheelchair, stumble out of his door.
On the hot parking lot ground, he layed, unresponsive to my concerns.
I ran to my dad, pleading for him to come over to help him.
We'll always remember our youth,
our careless and reckless acts.
We'll always remember our childish loves,
Bang, bang
You hear their shots being fired
It's only a matter of time now
Before the whole place is covered
Your friend lies there in pain
Will you soon be doing the same?
I had a dream about my daughter last night, where could she be?The choices that her mother had made were not up to me.She was snatched from my life in the middle of the night.
We the People
Of the United States,
Driving our SUVs,
A gun in the backseat.
And yet we wonder why others
Don’t trust us.
We the People
Who argue “equality for all”
You claim your ambitions, yet you sit back and wade
How can someone be so ignorant, is this why you're paid?
Our brothers have fallen, our sisters held hostage,
We didn't agree to this, I didn't sign a single roster.
I am pure, I am clean, I can be put together with anything. I am the only way to go, im the path to the sun behind the door. I am away from the night, i am that bright light.
there's a crackle over the loud speaker
and the bitter old woman bites out a
"Good Morning."
and it is good.
there's a heartbeat of silence
and the bitter old woman snaps out a
My Mind;
My only mind;
The one I hold dear;
So dear;
Without such;
My opinions would be non-existent;
My thoughts would be nothing;
Nothing for I;
Nothing for anyone;
Thank you
I Love you
I've grown up because of you
Do you remember me?
I remember you
We've met....
No not face to face
Not even word to word
But I know you, I lived with you
I wish you had told me sooner
That you would be leaving me
I know you have your duties but
I
Your daughter
Deserved a say in the matter
I watch the news
I see the deaths
Skyscraper tall as mountains
Long highways as river
Cities crowded of people
Nation of the food

What's hard about being an american,
Is when I see a fellow brother begging from a can,
When people pass by just because they can, when they cant even spare a cent, when that could help with someone's rent.
The flag stands where you were.
On the home front.
Defending what you love.
The flag stands where you were.
Blood is red
My outlook is blue
Your veteran dread
Makes my rift with you.
To any professor that has made my time on the GI Bil living hell.
I know the difference between a hero,
And being a complete zero.
Unnoticed is how you lived,
You had so much to give.
You loved even me,
Now your soul is completely free.
I am an African, an African
taken from my homeland and
brought into a place where I am known as
being "inferior" Why was this happening?
Do I not shed blood and cry as any other
Respect is a way to connect.
Respect is a way to reset.
Respect is something people should all do.
Don't be unrespectful.
Be respectful.
To your Parents, Grandparents, and even your friends.
Some things were left a mystery,Wounds were placed in hearts,As they waved to the departs,From 13 colonies to 50 states,They strived not knowing their fates,Families and friends waited in toil,As blood and tears fertilized the soil,Oceans to ocean
The twist and curves,
Wind around the ominous islands.
The wooden structure
Flows slowly,
Down the creeping current.
Waddling through the clear blue waters.
Little fish swim;
Free.
Free.
What was it you were thinking? That fateful day you leapt, out of those burning towers,as we all looked on... and wept.
It was pouring rain on the day you left me. I didn't want to say goodbye, but I knew this country needed you. We listened to the radio, not knowing what to say. There was a chance you wouldn't return to me.
When the Troops came home, we just stood there... Watching them salute to some of the heartless glares. You could tell they wanted to break down; but they couldn't, they're soldiers; there's no need for a frown.
I peer into your eyes, they quaver and fillbig, somber: greenthey overflow and spill. The tears thunder down your cheekslike the towers in the daythey crash and they screamfaster than anyone can pray. Your flushed cheeks utter gaspsof horror and pa
At five years old, I hardly understood
The tragedy that had just occurred.
I vaguely remember my kindergarten teacher
Frantically racing from one room to another
Desperately trying to gather information
A toll we hear,
Beckoning us towards liberty
A hope,
Only dreamt of.
Has it been realized?
My life in the military is not so grand
even though it has its days
I am Honored to defend my land
I yonder to be where my family stays
while I lay my life for you
When im alone at homeI don't really know what to doBut all I want is to beWith you
As I walk outsideIts cold and dark out hereI remember you so greatlyBut without you im so scared
A veteran stands strong and tall,
They’ve risked their life, their friends, their all.
Some people may not agree with the war
This is a money hungry nation and without it you can't succeed,
People havin to suffer for things they need,
Yet the priveleged prosper from their greed,
I'm stuck in quicksand while the rich go full speed,
There are many who live to love, There are many who live to be loved, There are those who sacrifice their lives so that we may live. It is a joy to watch you stand proud near the flag. It is a pleasure to support you from across the land.
They asked him what he wanted to be
When he grew up and he said,
“Not a fireman or a police patroller, no,
Not a scientist or an astronaut…
I want to be superman and
Save the world.”
Pace my life, but I’m never going slow, if it’s not one thing, it’s another , can’t keep my problems in control, dreams as children to grow up and get a million and spend it all in front of the county building.

As the smoke danced around the muzzle of my thoughts
My eyes were opened to behold the dismay before me
And as the souls ran, yet all for not
I quivered in fear at the thought of their eternity
It will rain today.
The pressure will rise, and the sun will be masked by the white & blue colors it creates when the cold & wet appear.
And all the girls in short and shirts that get cold will get cold
What is does it mean to have an ideal society?
To be free?
We may live in the land of the free but are we really free?
Who is considered an "American"?
Is an "American" based on whether you and your family were born on this country
or how hard you worked to pass your citizenship test?

In the midst of a storm, their earth was quaking
Images of a dynamic dream and whispers of, "this too shall pass."
BOOM!
Goes the sound of a bus backfiring
As it leaves a stop with no passengers
Once again
The bus driver silently laments to himself
And hopes the boycott will be over.
Always known as land of the free and home of the brave
Many people come to stay
Everlasting song and dance
Restful sleep and a bit of romance

“I do Solemnly swear” Obama said,
An oath which he reached with a trod.
To preserve, protect, and defend Our Nation,
The United States “So help me God”.
I stand on a pedestal,
In the mist of waters.
Perching, watching-
I stand for freedom,
Liberty and justice.
Yet I cannot give
All that I am.
Sun shines through, the red white and blue.
Freedom and equality.
Selfless sacrifice, there was a price.
Such a gift to be free.
There it is, in their eyes
When they look up into the once torn skies
They see what we hope to never see
Lurking in shadows but praised with pleas
Battle torn fields and red smoke filed nights
