Cloudy, but no rain. Overcast
Externally. The internal, much different.
In the midst of a storm, their earth was quaking
Images of a dynamic dream and whispers of, "this too shall pass."
The perverse came from poverty to attempt to pry
The whip from the master's hand.
Freedom was a facade to display democracy
The papers were signed, but the foundation was hypocrisy. Reality...
Reality is dogs feasting on flesh, and monkeys hanging from trees!
One step in front of the other. Not one of them backwards.
Heads held high.
Progression only comes when moving forward.
Motivated by blood, sweat, and tears from the past;
Faith and history.
Adversity was familiar,
But the country their families helped build
Wasn't being civil and it wasn't right.
'Cause whether you believe it or not...
The red, white, and blue has always been held high by black pride.
