Yes, I will certainly vote
But I won’t vote for liars
I will not vote for backstabbers
Myriads of Haitian-Americans will vote in the next US election
We are sending stern warnings to the current administration
We will vote for one party and we will rock the boat
Red, white, and blue
What does that mean to you?
To you red might symbolize love
But to me red symbolizes the blood
How much attention is really given to young people as they come up in a heavily political playground? Are we truly being molded to become leaders of change or are we simply just another vote?
His smile is so enticing.
It yanks them out of an abyss,
His promises,
Are the music that wake them up in the morning.
Oh citzen, you can vote
It doesn't have to be republican, or democratic
You can vote third party if you please
But if you don't vote, you are not fulfilling your duty as a citzen
To vote is to be
a citizen of your country.
Your voice can be heard
and be put into word.
It is your way
To seize the day
The time has come and I'm ready to surpass one of life's greatest milestones that isn't taught in class. If I did not need to decide, I'd gladly take off and explore, but I must, so I shall, and I'll try not to view it as a chore.
BLACK
By David Harris
So many times I’ve heard,
“You don’t act black”,
And to this day I still don’t understand,
How does one act a color?
Do I be decrepit, ugly, or dark?
I was scared,
Scared of what we could of had.
Scared of what we should of locked on a pad.
Scared of something that could go bad.
And now, I stand.
Confused with these flowers from another man.
Mine eyes have seen the coming
the comming of many things,
But as things pass by my eyes
they become many goings.
My feet know many back allies
that have kept me off my trail.
The home of a traveler
Is not really a home,
But more of a way of life.
The home can be furnished nicely
With a chipper mood and a broad smile.
The furniture is all in place
To the "dear" Mrs. Langerman.
How dare you take advantage of a young child.
She was innocent, sweet and mild.
Just because of her race you stood there
Discriminating and staring with that dark stare.
The power has gone to your head.
An unforgettable leader made a mistake,
and now we are stuck with the dread.
All we look forward to is break--
since it's the only thing stable that can come from you.
Life.
Wrap me up in it.
Feed me it by spoon.
Or drown me in it.
Just, leave me to submerge.
I'll be fine.
Just...Let me be.
Let me live.
I'm under lock and key,
Doesnt matter if you get a head start. The world's biggest dumbass was, at one point, smart. Look back at what you were. Now you're confused by your very own words. A slip up made you fall down. Can't climb back up. Sit there and drown.
She grows in a special pot.Made of wires and fear.Commonly broken and torn through. But always put back in her place. She's cared for and dusted,Her eyes behind the glass box,Sees a world she can never touch,And a world that will never touch her.Sh
Wish I was colorblind
Differences weren't relevant
Soon as I was to find
A dog is not an elephant
But what about the hurt
so important color
sep'rating whites from dirt
A leaf upon the pond, drifting along,
No wiser to the water below than the sky above,
The wind blows it goes,
No control of here or there,
As the day unravels the weather above eats away,
There is so much sadness in the world
What will it take to heal
When murder Senseless murder
Is committed every day
Genocide Is in every corner Of this planet
Look around you
I write to escape, to embody myself in a world free of space and time where my pen can't keep up with my mind as I overflow with rhyme expressing my love, expressing my life.
I write to release,
I write to not feel.
I write to express feelings that I know are real.
I write when I'm confused,
I write when I'm alone,
I write when there's no one but myself at home.
You are debating, misstating, creating
Facts and figures that sounds so nice.
I am waiting, we are waiting,
My generation is weighting
Writing is a passage to the soul,
A life etched in ink or coal.
My story is different and unheard
Yet so many find it so absurd.
I write to tell my story,
I write to escape my quarry,
My selfish self wants to stand out and shine,
Like the glowing eyes from the roadside in the night
Making many folks alert of my existence.
Yet, all my life I’ve been watching from behind those dazzling bright eyes,
i write because others write
one day i heard someone speak without making a sound
the book opened on my lap spilled with words that were so loud
at the end of every sentence and/or phrase, was a bold statement
Why I write
The externalization of my internal fight
My words take flight
What I convey not always a delight
The emotions are real,
Flashing before your eyes
Masquerading in my desguise
I used to be depressed
And at times I even desired death
My feelings were strong and extreme
It was the consequence
Of trials and times
That clearly took a toll on me
I record dreams. Not because I believe they are full of meaning,But because they were something I experienced,And I don't like to forget,That which I have experienced.
ITS IN MY SOUL TO EXPPRESS MY INNER THOUGHTS
THAT SCREAMING VOICE THAT NO ONE CAN TOUCH
TAKES OVER MY FINGERS
THAT BRINGS NO FEAR
IM UNTOUCHABLE WHEN I HAVE A PEN NEAR
Why I write
is simply so
when my words sprout wings
and take off into my soul
my mind and spirit
filled with dismay
writing is the ticket
as I take on the soul train
Why I write
Painful memories my heart storesLooking for a way through these doorsFinding my way back into the lightUsing up all of my mightBut when the darkness is backAll I see is black
I believe that in order for someone to truly develop and mature
they must invest in themselves.
In order to invest in themselves they must recognize what type of person he or she is
Poetry is more than words
put together in rhymes and stanzas.
It’s more than a couplet
Or even iambic pentameter.
To me it iss utter expression.
A way to scream and shout
You use them to communicate,
you use them to express your hate,
you use them to depict your fate,
you use them to inovate.
but i use them to fight,
i use them to make things right,
The abandonment that I have experienced,
no other should feel.
Enjoy your family, if not for you.
Do it for the peole like me.
People who have no mother to say "I love you".
Words written in led or words written in ink;
whenever I find a chance, I really begin to think.
Words written in red or words written in pink;
When I find the chance to write, it feels like it was meant to be.
limit of limitations are limitless when i script dreams onto a blank page filled with ideas just awaiting to happen. The thought that no one or nothing could say that im wrong.
One night I feel the falling rain
Drowning out the moonlit night.
Gloomy thoughts of fierce betrayal
Linger on my mind.
(Shadow Dance)
Hallucinations of my pride
Give me the strength to fall.
When you see a pretty face
When you see a shining smile
Does everyone see that same thing?
When some one is crying blood
Today I am a leader,
An independent,
A scholar.
Yesterday I was shy.
Timid,
And a follower.
Today I speak in front of large crowds,
Rooms of people,
I remember how I used to want to be like Left Eye, Queen Latifah, or MC Lyte
Record labels are hard to get so, I thought it was worth a fight
However Nipsey Hussle was my biggest inspiration
I remember elementary school
When they told me the rules
"A poem has to rhyme
And it's all about the syllables."
I remember in seventh grade
When my thoughts would fade.
I remember the laughing times
I remember the heroic things
I know the love you use to gave
And I know the love you received
What is this insane reality that I live in.
Its seems to be that every time I come to see.
I can't still believe.
I'm walking 'round Blind
I'm worse than the mice.
I'm awakening from beauty.
I'm never stable cause I'm always replaced.
Friends are never friends, its a never ending race.
I won't stay here forever,and plus you wouldn't care.
As I walk away with nothing, just the wind blowing my hair
As I Lay here Dead
Taking all the hits.
Just One time I wish you missed.
So I can rest a ill from all this beat.
When ones so close to death
You didn't even notice you took your last breath
Your still alive
and yet there's so much hope
We all pray here
Left with cope
Your still young you've got so much left to see
They devoured her
They saw her with greedy eyes and decided to feast
They came upon her suddenly
She in all her glory
They covered in deceit
Wove illusions of inspired beauty
And stole from her
Something dangerous lurks in the shadows
It’s gangling grotesque figure lets out an eerie cry of warnings
Night after night
Hiding it’s sunburned flesh
It creeps in the shadows
I’m afraid of the dark
I, myself, draw the line.
Neither bounded by chains or by reckless thoughts,
flooded by the ignorance of those unaware of my flow.
Is it the way that I speak which inflicts fear on Man?
Character
Deep within the focal point of your exterior lies character.
Character yet to be defined,
Character that has ceased to be be intertwined...
With our flags, banners, and voices,
We march.
With tired bodies, overworked minds, and children in our arms,
We march.
For our daughters, granddaughters, and future generations,
We march.
One day I’ll to support myself like my parents.
To defend my political views.
To defend the defendless.
To see for the blind.
To change the world.
To solve world hunger.
To understand how one who killed
