Icarus loved the sun
Like a bullet loves a gun
Yet the sun was the bullet
And Icarus was the trigger
The bullet that bore through man’s flesh
And the sun melted Icarus’ wings
A Titaness in love,
Blinded by his godly power.
She is only a fling to him,
But he cannot deny
The mistake he has made.
A prophet sits and laughs,
"Foolish god.

The queen bee,
The popular girl,
Dating the popular boy,
She has everything a girl could ever want,
A long time ago, war was small. War was local, contained. Ares, then the god of war, led the world to fight itself, ingrained hatred in all of humanity.
The countryside whips past
On the other side of the glass.
I already miss it, yearn for it-
The earth, the smell
Of blooming apple trees.
Finding a corner in Mom’s orchard
To draw and be alone

I was picking flowers in a vast field,
Suddenly the earth gouged open and did not yield.
Whosoever should soar to great heights
Shall encounter there no earthly delights
But instead will grasp with empty hand
Treasures found not upon land
At least, that's what Icarus was told
All the moon knows how to do is consume,
And reflection was never enough for me
Hubris- is a dangerous thing.
I was 17 when we first kissed,
Once upon a late-night evening
As the golden-ager slumbers
The young hebe begins to hunger
On a more melodic fruit
So the youngster begins his journey
Friend in hand and hand on wheel
Eternal love,
far greater than eternal glory.
Their love,
burns brighter than any story.
Two soldiers in war,
brothers in arms in the light,
lovers at night.
Hidden love,
Forbidden love,
Phorcys and Ceto, two siblings so close,
They birthed three healthy gorgons out of passionate throes.
Two of the girls had interests that align,
The storm siezed and blew
I look towards the sky
If only I knew
Where all my time went by
Centuries upon centuries of ungrasped time
Ruling down here in utter misery
The fruit of war takes many flavors
for which he tastes all the many.
In this world of words, war runs far more
rampant than the swinging of an axe. In this world of words, more battles take form than

Jinx knew she was in trouble when she saw his name flash across her screen.
He, the almightly nail-painter, combat-boot-wearer, bipolar feelings-fucker,
he needed her.
I mean, she was assuming that's what this was about.
So there I was sitting down,
Locker room was full.
And out of nowhere he came round,
Like he owned the school.
I walked up and he pushed me,
He will catch up to you one day,
the king of death.
The shadow of his past life,
the king of grief.
Only he can stop this,
the king of murder.
When he lurks around the corner,
Dionysus, the man of greed
The king of ecstasy
The queen of mead
Dionysus, Dionysus, the graceful drunk
The dapper playboy
With charm and spunk
Soft sweaters and long taupe skirts,
Eyes the warm brown-gold of honey.
Her home is filled with candles; sky high, low and smooth, burnt vermillion to deep crimson and bright as constellations.
The television lights flicker,
On and off…
Or just simply on.
PEW PEW PEW!
The sounds of lightsabers clashing.
Medusa;
The watch me as my hair slithers and they tremble in fear
This head is filled with so much pain
This body, beautiful but broken
They try to build me up
But brick can’t hold forever I tell them
Medusa is the modern Insta baddie e-girl
She poses in the sun, her skin shining like a pearl
Covered in scales and chains
Feelin' edgy with those bloodstains
She seduces all the boys with just a twirl
you don't wanna cross my bow
or come near my arrow.
if i hear you insult my skill
you'll drop like a sparrow.
but words aren't the worst.
it's your eyes that are my concern.
Atlas you fool,
let go of the sky
The night carries on , and shines thousands of lights
Or so they said, millions of years ago
Won't you, young God, just let go though?
Be a new being
Lover, that makes me stare
Ivory skin and ebony hair
Lover, forever fair
You have come and answered my prayer
Lover, that makes me stare
Long ago the Greeks had their gods and goddesses
Thought to be long forgotten to the sands of time
But they’re still very much alive.

Here I sit...
Underneath the glory of my sunshine...
But I'm about to throw a fit...
For I am in a bind!
I cannot catch a tan,
For even though I am a god,
The sun is not a fan...
As children we’re taught the myth of Hercules,
The mythical powers of Zeus,
Athena’s legendary insights,
Aphordite’s love tales,
And poor Orpheus’ plight.
He was looking at me with a hunger in his face that boys like me learn to ignore as soon as we can climb a tree.
I have never climbed a tree.
I was curious.
“What are you
my life is like like charybdis
my head is spinning, can't take this
I breathe in, everything all at once
I belche it out and feel like a dunce
if only i had someone to come
and pick out every crumb

Medusa was the villain.

a force against nature,
and yet all at once a victim
of her own malfeasance.

Persephone
He was so nice when we met,
Until one day he would let me leave.
I was given a pomegranate red and sweet,
Six sweet seeds I did eat.

‘Modern Myths’
Driving to the rim with raw fury,
Ares, the god of war, scores yet again. The Greek god of war, yes, but also the god of basketball.
They say myths and legends are old tale
from forgotten times where time ails
but myths are not forgotten
it least not by the young
We hear old legends of Athena and Hera
The land out in the sea
Mysterious and hidden
From many who wish to see
A place of triumph
A place of beauty tis it
One of which many wish to visit
made of sun itself:
red converse on black tarmac, running whipfast to god-knows-where
on a Saturday in mid-July.
blasting Lizzo on a crappy tapedeck
as the sunset bleeds itself crimson across the horizon.
