The Code
I live my life by a code
To never get drunk nor high,
But people think me queer or rude.
My code exiles me from the cliques,
Never invited to outings or parties,
Never asked to stand in the student body.
As my peers get bloodshot eyes,
I study and learn in my own free time.
I want to be more than they will ever be.
I live my life by a code,
To always stand up for the little guys,
The ones that can't stand up for themselves.
My peers mock the ailing and the slow
I stand in front as a wall or shield,
And I instead receive their ridicule.
Cruel they are but I know I can take it,
As the ailing and slow thank me
It all becomes worth it.
