Who said I was inside?
Oh! I wish IT wasn’t
Put IT up in a tree
Or on a clothing line
There in sultry Hampton
He's gone.
My number one support system.
My everyday hero,
He's been taken for granted.
He fixes our uniforms without being asked.
I need him, he'll be there in 5.
The world is a wolf, snatching innocence and feeding on the shortcomings of others.
A child with mindless ignorance enters the woods; a blank slate.
They look upon the faces of those around them, observing and repeating.
You wouldn’t think
His eyes would shine so bright
Beneath those clouds that fog his sight
But they’ve been aglow since ‘25
You wouldn’t think he would be so kind
You are the ones,
Who defend.
You are the ones,
Who protect.
Be honored,
Young or old.
No matter what war,
For you, we respect.
He long time now flown into state
having 30 years been discharged for
its funny how still I await
the day when he'd return from war
The postman came up
to our doorstep today.
He left a package
small and gray.
From the minute we heard
the thump on the door
we knew something had changed
something was no more.
Over where the family sits and enjoys the company they share;Sweet melodies are sung by flowers of the past:the horrors that happened there.Unknowingly they carry on-not one asks what occurred.
bomb rhymes with mom but
my mom is a bomb--
ticking away from the things that she saw.
you would never think and I had never thought
that my mom would get caught
in government claws
“I fought in Vietnam.
Watched my men lay down their guns.
Watched the life of my old buddy, Red, drain from his eyes.
I heard the cries of a widowed wife,
as I told her, her husband died.
I am a mother
a wife
a veteran
an artist
a daughter
But none of those words really describe WHO I am.
Weary but ready
John Doe is still steady.
With his boot propped over its twin
Doe just stopped after a win.
Wrapped in cloak,
Don't kiss me-
There's still blood in my mouth from the last battle.
You know, I've never actually left that field. A part
I hear the music
No one else hears
And I wander through the streets.
I sing along but
They can't see me.
What I have is such a treat!
I'm the invisible man.
Super Special.
My whole family has served,
but where will I be?
What if i don't want to
what if it's not the right cause?
I haven't forgotten.
Alive in my dreams you are,
There, just waiting for me.
My Friends hands welcoming me,
But unable to grasp.
Memories of you locked away
With the loss of you.
Watching you from above.
Through your worst
and your happiest times.
Bursting with pride and hope.
But have you forgotten
what I have done?
Have you forgotten my sacrifice?
"Well, there's Miss Beautiful," as I approach the porch step
Another cherished day - for a horrid illness crept
Bold brown eyes, with a happy, gentle smile
Every last second was ultimately worth while
" Left, right, left, right."
I feel thats all I know,
"Left, right, left, right."
Can you feel that under your boot? Its the snow.
"Left, right, left, right."
All geared up ready to enter the battle zone.
Trotting through the hot narrow alley, rifle on my back.
My companion to my left: Richard, I think.
The sound of gunfire boiling in the distance.
Will I swell, like the carnivorous actions of a tick?Does that make me the enemy of man?Do I hunt man?Hurt him, beat him, leave him in the destruction that is my wake?“Man”, that word it resonates with fear
The way he stands makes him look fragile,
But I bet, back in the day he was agile.
His back curves into a dramatic arch,
His steps, so loud, it’s like a march.
You played for me
My tiny pigtails bounced to the harmonica
You gave me my love for music
Leathery hands move gracefully
Playing it all by ear
And I danced
Can you hear me?
I watch you walk
Out to the plane
You turn and you look at me
Before turning your back again
And that's the last time
I saw you alive
Before throwing yourself
Into the fight
I watch you walk
Out to the plane
You turn and you look at me
Before turning your back again
And that's the last time
I saw you alive
Before throwing yourself
Into the fight
A veteran is a hero
What they have been through only they know.
They have been through weather both cold and hot
Some killed, wounded, or shot.
Soldiers have been to Vietnam, Japan and Iraq
I’m sick of these family ties holding me back,
And if I ever tried to leave you’d be right there to put me right on track.
Chastise me and ridicule me for everything I lack.
Ask me how I am I’ll lie and say I’m grand.
I pull into the wooded area, marked with a sign
With tear-filled eyes, I find what was once mine
Chills run down my spine as my car slows to a stop
I glance to my left and my stomach drops
