Look Up

Mon, 02/17/2014 - 16:32 -- chacke
I would change the view
that it's not you to look up at one another
as we walk from point a to point q
I would change how we feel when we're in a class
and don't wanna raise our hands because of the fear of being embarrassed
we're all here to learn
inside the classroom and out
so why the hell do we feel the need to withhold our shout?
there's no good reason why we withdraw
from the power we hold in making others aw
awe in admiration, awe in "yes",
awe in enthusiasm and awe without feeling like less
The fellow people walking down the street,
are labeled as strangers.
Those fellow classmates of ours,
deemed competition,
are not much different, not more filled with danger.
Not much stranger than we, he, me, she, or it
So why we gotta look down, and in turn, lose our wit?
I've never understood this, and I don't want it this way.
But how to change it? Is the question, that maybe this poem will sway.
