Darkness

Darkness envelopes within the soul.

Consuming first from the edges like a t-shirt stained with blood

We look into ourselves for hope

But in a twisted hopelessness

Darkness envelopes within the soul.

Unable to be washed out not even bleach can clean its tarnish

We yell out to our friends for attention

In bitter and cold loneliness

Darkness envelopes within the soul.

In everything it consumes it leaves nothing undamaged

We wander back to our families for comfort

With trauma distorted tear stained faces

We search for our life looking for a light that can shine through

But darkness will return

Bringing on the kind of damage not even super glue can keep together

Because you can't heal from a wound that deep

We cling on to sanity, but despite our strongest intentions

Darkness envelopes within the soul.
