Mama Says…
By: Skylar Haley Sculley
Mama says, if a boy picks on me it’s because he likes me.
But Mama, if a boy calls me those names he most definitely does not like me.
If I could, I'd change every aspect of this world, but we were born into a perfect world with imperfections and I couldn't be any more thankful for that.

As days come to a close
And the clock counts down,
You think to yourself,
Is there a reason to frown?
Reminisce of your life:
Well roundedness
Is it necassary, or just a school themed mess?
Must I learn these books?
Is this how a doctor looks?
Can the Odyssey be necessary?
Or will statistics be my useless adversary?
Far too often does a young boy hear
"You throw like a girl, toughen up kid!"
As if being a girl is something to fear
The moment we are born we are shamed
Cover this, don't say that, be a lady, my dear
This is an easy one
Let’s stop using people
Let’s stop yelling
Let’s stop the hate
Let’s start the love
Let’s start getting along
This word of mine,
although it may shine,
holds many obstacles
that I fear I can not tackle.
If I could alter one thing,
it would be to be rid of the bling.
