Poems from A Finch
I swear I’ve met your soul before,
And your smile too.
Perhaps you’re who I’m waiting for
Without ever meaning to.
For you seem far too...
I awoke beside a stranger.
She must have been my lover
For I hate to sleep alone.
I wish that night lasted forever
Or love as well for...
I’m awake all through the night,
Every hour lost to dreams.
Dreams of terror and delight
Dreams of depth, of breadth, of height;
Yet dream...
My dear, your visits are too long apart.
And your stays so very very brief
They leave me such a heavy heart
That I can hardly bear my grief...
In my dream’s shoon
I sail for the moon
To reach her before the day.
And if luck may
I’ll catch her soon
Before nighttime swirls away.
