Reveries

Tue, 08/13/2019 - 23:26 -- A Finch

I’m awake all through the night,

Every hour lost to dreams.

Dreams of terror and delight

Dreams of depth, of breadth, of height;

Yet dream always end it seems.

But this one thing persists,

That I always dream of you

In colors that don’t exist.

Is it your eyes I can’t resist,

Those eyes of chestnut hue,

Or your curls that heaven wove?

I’ll know tonight as I dream

For you are what I dream of.

Do we truly share this love

Or is that too a dream?

Could this be a clue instead

You are dreaming of me too?

You are all that fills my head

As I lie upon my bed

Awake, yet dreaming of you.
