When You Look At Me

When you look at me, what do you see?

I'm a girl who's full of Humanity.

I'm someone who fights for what's right,

And does no harm so I can sleep at night.

Do you see who I am? Do you really see,

Who I truly am or what I can be?

When you sit with "your clique," do you even care?

Have you looked my way, have you noticed me there?

When I've sat all alone, did you even try?

Did you ever take the time to say hi?

Did you try to know me? Yes, you know my name.

How I hoped you'd come over, but you never came.

I'm a human being with feelings, it's true;

I might not be that much like you.

But I am me and that's good enough,

Don't get distracted by judging and stuff.

I'm so much more than just hearing impaired,

Can you stand the truth? Are you prepared

To hear what you're missing as you pass me by?

Do you care if you hurt me or care if I cry?

I'll not let you break me, I'm better than that.

I know where I'm going, I know where I'm at.

I'm a strong young woman who's ready to stand,

You can keep walking or you can take my hand.

I love my family and they love me.

Got the greatest dog, his name is Cody.

I love being an Aunt, I love fishing and fun.

I help at the shelter, walk dogs out in the sun.

I'm in 4-H, I have ribbons and plaques.

I've got a kind heart, that's a few of the facts.

I love reading books, I love music and dance,

Dream of being a pilot so I'm taking the chance!

To travel the world and see all the sights,

Do you think I can't? Well I say I might!

I believe in myself and my family does too.

I'm the best of me. Are you the best of you?
