when i get tired (this feeling of lonliness)

i close my eyes (come meet me)

i walk through my dimly lit mind (everything is empty)

and i begin to pray (there you are)

find a cure for this strain my heart is feeling (you smile— it’s simple, beautiful)

i begin to wander (follow me)

into the silence

that’s when i hear it (follow my heart)

my thoughts rush in like running water (don’t lose me)

breathing short and quick i struggle to keep my head above; gasping for air (i need you)

i fade deeper into a dark peacefulness (the faint touch of your hand on my cheek)

in my last breath before the darkness takes reign i whisper (i am because you are)
