Societal Flaws

Fri, 04/17/2015 - 12:47 -- S0819G

Often times I wonder,

Why we act, react, act, and repeat.

I grew up in a house that says no to discrimination,

I grew up in a society that says yes.

I grew up in a church that says to love everyone,

I grew up learning that not all churches do.

I grew up trying to find myself,

I grew up learning that if I want to fit in, I need to be someone else.

These are the problems define us.

No need for 'not all people do this and that'

If we are a part of the society that encourages this,

We are a part of the problem when we do not discourage.

When I first learned, that because of my gender I will not earn the same amount of money for the same job,

I said "Something's wrong with that"

When I asked about it, I was told "That's just the way things are"

The mindset of keeping things the way they are needs to be destroyed.

I am done listening to a society that does not even offer me any level of respect.

I say no.

I will not discriminate

I will love everyone.

Above all, I will be myself.

It's your turn to say no.
