Rebellion
With unsteady hands and a shaky spirit
I sit wide awake hoping for tomorrow
Hoping for a day where I can breathe
When I can breathe purely and live freely
What a false sense of freedom we all have
We sit with our hands folded and our mouths plastered shut
Waiting for permission to speak ordinary thoughts
While we hold the extraordinary thoughts captive
Why must the rebellious be shunned?
The one's who dare to be different
Those who will speak out against the cultural norm
Shall I hold my thoughts captive, too?
And spend my life chained to the law?
Or shall I take tomorrow by the reigns
And dare to set my spirit free.
