Brick By Brick
They built me up,
And knocked me down,
Over
And over
And over
And over.
A cycle of trying to impress,
And being disappointed
In the end.
I was Sisyphus.
Always trying to do the impossible.
Always failing.
But then you came along,
You built me up.
I expected you to knock me down
Just like the rest.
But you didn’t.
You kept building,
Repairing the damaged parts,
Smoothing the jagged edges.
Now I’m sturdy,
Standing by myself
Instead of leaning,
Depending on someone else.
