being able to see, being able to breathe

Location

i once was a girl made of flesh

a girl with eyes and a heartbeat.

this girl was soft and her lines were curved

her body was supple and lovely

i wanted to be a girl made of bones

a girl with eyes and a heartbeat.

this girl lost her humanity in the numbers and her sanity in the labels

her soft lines cut into angles

i became a girl made of glass

a girl with eyes and a heartbeat.

this girl was fragile and her bones were bruised

her soul was lost and her thoughts confused

because out of all these girls that i’d wanted to be

none of them were truly me

but they all had eyes and a heartbeat.

i once was a girl with eyes and a heartbeat.
