Arizona

I wake up in the shimmery light

Of the early sun’s sigh.

The rays pour in through the open blinds

Tiny crystals dance and flutter to and fro

Another morning in darling Arizona.

The smell of wet dirt and honeysuckle arouse my senses,

Mixes with the aroma of homemade tortillas.

I walk outside to greet my darling Arizona,

She smiles at me with lazy eyes and plants a dewy kiss on my head.
