Hope

I hate how the word hope
impersonates a pleasant state of being

How it whispers wishful whimpers

Soft promises to keep my heart beating

As if I need to hold on

While all faith is fleeting

When worse comes to worse

And I’m still taking the beating
I hate the uncertainty
of wanting and dreaming
I’m unable to relay on myself
to find what I’m seeking
though still I desire
dreaming and wanting without ceasing

Just like in the story

Of Pandora’s unleashing

And when she realized what she had done

 She began grieving

Till she looked to her box

And saw but one fairy clinging

Hope remains here

Intrinsically ours

Humanities gift

The source of our power
why then do I continue
to live in make believe
when I've fail countless times
endless times, it seems
although I feel myself sinking

To the depths of days despair

Although we struggle to find others like us

People who really care

Although times are so tough now

And they seem impossible to bare
This one word that I hate the most
Never fails to be there

Our world
