This is the City of Light!
It is chilly tonight.
My hazel hair in the wind—
a tree with many branches.
The riverboat floats under Pont Neuf
The last queen of France before the French Revolution, you composed yourself with a dignity and grace that has long since been admired. A memory of the 14 year old girl forced into marriage far away from her home of edelweiss flowers.
I could not stop myself from taking flight,
And eventually, I got lost in her light.
I prayed that no one would notice my desperate glances,
It started as all do, in January
But I was not in the same place
The year started abroad, where I learned to be on my own
With a new language, new friends, new everything
It was difficult, but just enough
Je suis
Click, click
Black heels reverberate smoothly in sync with the
lithe body of a metal barrel
shining in the streetlights an omen
I'd like to think my footsteps echo
off the white stone bridge
but such tranquil sounds overpowered
destroyed
by the dull roar of the arriving crowd
what stone should gleam instead is pale
The fifth one landed in France
In a tiny coast town
Where time had no meaning
And the small chair sat in the corner
For a day
Then a week
A month came
In just a few hours,
I'll be on my way.
London will greet me,
By the end of today.
Mommy, I love you,
And I hate to say goodbye,
So I will see you later,
And please don't cry.
A man stood there, alone in the room, looking out its windows. It was his last day in his home, a home in a land not truly his, amongst a people not his own,But he loved them. And this was his home.
Bonjour, comment ça va?
I’m sorry, I don’t understand.
Ne me comprends-tu pas?
Whatever you want to say,
It must be important, I'm sure,
