Think back to when you first felt the flutter of butterflies doing acrobats in your stomach
The first time you looked at a girl and...
I held you close to me and tried to memorize your hug
Your arms around me and mine around you, I tried to cling to the details
And...
When you left, you took a piece of me with you
Like burs on white socks after a summer trek through a field
It, too, clung to the softness...
Anger never suited me
It never did and i vow it never will
like an oversized hand me down
It hangs loose about my body
sleeves too wide...
You sit there quietly
Not even casting a single glance my way
You are far too busy thinking
Listening
Observing the world around you...
