War

Everyday I fight a war.

I get up without the guarantee of seeing you.

I go to school without you to make it bearable.

I smile without you to make it real.

I laugh without you to make it full.

I try to make others happy when I feel like shit inside.

I go home feeling as though I've lost everyday.

I fucked up and now even the little things are hard.

But I trudge on knowing that one day.

I might win a battle, then another,

until I eventually settle this internal war peacefully.
