Daddy left yelling with a bottle in one hand and a cigaret in the other

I waved and watched him leave

He told me about "our secrets"

Momma always leaving the door too

She didn't wear much cloth, had her face caked with makeup

Told her I wanted to be like her when I was older

She slapped me across the face

Never again

would I tell her that

I told my momma that I felt alone

"we all are" she replied blowing smoke out of her mouth

I took a pen to paper wrote down my last thoughts

took the last of my pills and waited

The wait was long but finally

momma would be able to do her job at home

And daddy wouldn't have any more secrets to create with me

maybe then I'll be happy

living up above them.
