The Vivacious Hunter

The scorching Serengeti heat casts a spotlight

Shining on a glorious creature whose life is finite

He enters the land of the stories untold

But he is the hunter whose task is so bold

Amber eyes that are void of fear

With claws so sharp and severe

Ears perked for the slightest of rustles

His sleek body with agile muscles

His attention is captured by the whiff of a scent

The scent of a feeble gazelle that seems content

Grazing on delectable green grass

But the hunter has created an impasse

Those amber eyes are struck with light as they prepare

The breeze rustling through their flowing, golden hair

Unretractable piercing claws ready to pounce at their prey

The gazelle has reached the final moment of this day

This hunter attempts to proves his place

As the most nimble on land, with an unbeatable pace

With a deadly pounce and the force of lethal jaws

The gazelle hangs limp from the creature’s claws

The hunger of the vivacious hunter is satiated for now

But the hunter continues on in a lust for life

This hunter has captured my utmost attention

But I have been swallowed by apprehension

One day I will be able to study such creatures

And learn of their habits, personalities, and features
