I want to be known by one name
Like Dessalines, Christophe and Pétion
Like Pelé, Ali or a Great Champion
Once upon a time
(not as far as you’d believe),
they would have called me a monster---
a “griffe”
half-eagle, half-lion.
A quarter of me here,
Live like a lion.
Rummage up a roar.
Protect what is precious.
Hunt out of hunger
Love larger than life.
There are so many languages known to man
And so many lost in translation
I can tell You I love You in quite a few
but the feeling is lost on it's way to meet expectations
It has been said
That lions are the fiercest of beings
Strong jaws, sharpened teeth -
Ready to pounce.
Every day the lion waited
I saw him around corners
Prowling in the distance
I'm a tiger. He's a lion,
Or maybe it's a she.
Well, I guess it doesn't matter,
Because I am better than them, you see?
You may call them the animal kings,
And, yes, they're pretty tough,
I have the power of a lion
but you allow me to be a bird
locked up in a dark space I sit
The heart of a tiger, the lungs of a fish. Know one can be as brave as this
the theif in the night turning to an angel at sight, as soon as the darkness hits
care for you, like you care for me when times are hard
You have no idea how badly i hurt, how much pain i endure when my anxieties and fears pulse through my blood…
How easy it seems to just let them out, it only costs an inch of flesh…
Growing up I was insecure and had a lot of fears,
Coming from a city that was build on music and cars
Eventually being deprived and ruined by the men in the city.
To me its like i was the city,
I was Detroit!
The camera goes down, and there's the frown
Fears rushing from beneath, tears gushing from my eyes to the tip of my reach
Her roar
Erupts the peace
The plains grow quieter
She cries for her kingdom and they
Echo
Staring into my reflection is a daunting one
I see a girl with too much mascara,
that she liberally applied to impress people who couldn’t care less
I see a girl with a broken smile
I am chained in a cage. Exposed and vulnerable like a nerve.
But the joke is on them.
I may be trapped, but I'm not a captive.
The fire in me would make Hades run for the hills.
The scorching Serengeti heat casts a spotlight
Shining on a glorious creature whose life is finite
He enters the land of the stories untold
But he is the hunter whose task is so bold
I know as a human my self
I know that I have the bad and my beauty
I know about the weak and my strength
I know that so far I've walked in the jungle of pain
Lion Lion in the plain,Giant paws and golden mane,Licks his lips craving meat,Scans the plain for prey to eat.
The royalty he desires
Burns brighter
Than any fire
The dreams he always had
Mislabeled as passing fads
Late nights, constantly wishing
For miracles that have been missing
Oh Lion, oh lion who hunts discriminately
I always must wonder, why not hunt me
Oh lion, oh lion who is so majestic
I will not run, or hide if you attack
As long as you're with me,
I will go anywhere you want to see
I'll defend you and you'll defend me
I'm a lion, I will fight
For everything that's right.
I will growl at whatever gets near
Or make a sound.
So many strange things running in a carousel
With eerie music round and round,
As the monkey bears its wide-toothily grin
And blood drips from the jaws of the neighboring bear.
