When it began, no one could tell
How hard it was for me
I was just like the other boys and girls
Just with more energy

In middle school, that’s when things changed
I knew something was wrong
To others, I was kind of strange
Like I did not belong

I did not choose to be this way
But no one understood
And I could not control it
Though I did the best I could

I thought and thought about it
And I came to realize
It’s not about what others think
It’s what is in my eyes

My disorder constantly
Would work to bring me down
I do not have to be a victim
If I stand my ground
