Sisterhood

If all the world had sisters like I had sisters
The fair and the sweet and the wild,
(and that strange thing I call Humphry)
They'd be luckier than anyone deserves to be.
The fair with her voice like chiming silver
She raises it up in praise and in jest,
Her favorite color seems to be pink,
And she wants to be Rapunzel,
Go figure right?
How could she want to be anyone but she?

If the world had sisters like I have sisters
The sweet and the wild and the fair
(and that mad-cap thing we sing HJ)
They'd be drowned in her mothering
Comforted by her compassion
Tenderized by her utter sincerity.
She'll be someone's Someone, someday
Until then we get to keep her.
How lucky are we?
May she never be anyone but she.

If the world had sisters like we had sisters
The wild and the fair and the sweet.
(And that wonderful girl we greet "Dearest!")
They'd meet fierce blue eyes
That never disguise the things she wants you to see.
How very lucky are we?
She'll be a general one day,
Bright as a bell, sound as a dollar.
No matter how afraid she is to be she
May she never want to be anyone but she.

If the world had sisters like we had sisters
The fair and the sweet and the wild,
And the baby we call Near-and-dear.
With her sweet smiles that hold no guile
Her laugh, her jokes, her best-
May we never simply let it rest
That we are blessed to have eachother
As we are blessed to have found her.
And no matter how we move or grow or be
I pray she is always as she would be.

My sisters, never be anyone but you,
Because no one can be quite so true
So sweet
So charming
So fiesty
So strong
Sisters, God bless you!
And never think its wrong
To be you.

This is so heartfelt and sweet... your sisters must be such a huge part of your life. I like that.

Thank you! My nears-and-dearests. We adopted eachother, and though we've given eachother cause to regret it, I don't think we ever have. God has blessed me so brilliantly with them! And I'm glad you liked it.
