SAME

They walk and talk like they really know me
but I'm not just some random body
I don't need them to dictate what I can and cannot do

They wanna label and box me into simplicity
ignore my story and intersectionality
I'm sure - wait no - I don't know... God, I'm questioning what I wanna be

"What's your age, gender, wait... are you a member
of our religion and background? If not - return to sender"
Wait, what? Hold up. Why is this pertinent to these services?

"Are you an immigrant? Are you misleading?
God forbid you don't speak my native language"
I thought this was supposed to be the land of the free

Everybody wants to set the pace, win the race, be first place, but they save face
Everybody doesn't realize that what they'll find is nothing more than human lives
already lost to senseless guns and violent "sons of (so called) liberty"

But we all have one world, one heart, and one goal
So let go, go slow, and forgo
those thoughts, this world, and that show
look deep inside and you'll know
that we're all the same
