The River

The trees, hid her from everyone around
The water, flowed beneath her tiny feet
For nothing more beautiful could astound
Like the pleasant river beyond the street,

The little girl sat beneath the tall trees
As she watched the clear water go downstream,
She smelled the scent of the earth in the breeze
As her dark hair glistened in the light beam

But one day, the little girl moved away
Just as the days got bitter, cold, and dark
And the leaves, once green, began to decay
In her mind, forever leaving a mark

A young girl plays in the river these days
Only time will tell just how long she stays
