My Unkind Brain #1: Sensory Overload
Sometimes my brain is not kind to me.
It starts with the sounds around me.
My teacher is talking.
My classmates are whispering.
I hear it all and it is so so loud.
Then, I stim.
My leg shakes as if an earthquake is
happening in my toes alone.
"Can you please stop clicking your pen?"
I become overly aware of
the ten trillion textures
underneath my fingers
my arms
my legs
my stomach
my everything
I stim more.
"DUDE, STOP CLICKING YOUR PEN!"
I tap my fingers instead,
to a rhythm no one else can hear,
but that just causes more awareness to texture.
Why are the lights so bright in here?
I drop my pen.
I feel to much.
