Letting Go

For the longest time,

I let it encapsulate me.

Fear gripped me with its

frozen, harsh, ugly hands.

They were unrelenting.

I would tell you a story

of suffering

of  pain

of endless fighting

but

I would rather tell you

how I let go--

It was

sudden

It was

driving down a hill and

taking your foot off the break

It was

darkness and then

a radiating sunrise

It was

tight lungs but finally

a deep breath

So suddenly, the release flooded in

I hope that you can find this too.
