At Last
Fear welling up inside.
He loved me. He lied.
My heart wretchedly aches,
But he is just fine.
He shoots a murderous smile.
Is he still just as hostile?
I reminisce on that night.
A once-friend now embodies fright.
He said, “Trust me.”
Why couldn’t I flee?
I was completely frozen by fear,
And it’s still vivid after over a year.
I can never again face him.
A love story ends so grim.
How can you relearn trust
When yours was broken by his lust?
These fears walked next to me,
Held me back as I pushed free.
I broke away from the past;
I can face him at last.
