I Have These Two Friends
I have these two friends...
In school, they both have goals and dream.
Both got pregnant at eighteen.
Sweet girls that fell victim to all of the lies-
Of “Love” they thought they had from other “Nice Guys.”
One chose the next trimester of labor...
One chose the next semester of school.
School is important... and offers... and gives,
But one had to choose if her baby should live.
Society stares... and judges... and blames,
But my one friend must stop thinking of baby names.
It’s your body, it’s your choice,
But teens seem to have no voice.
I support both decisions because I must care
For my friends I want safely to always be there.
It wouldn’t be helpful to sit and make judgement.
Views on teen pregnancy need an adjustment.
Stop assuming what you do not know,
Maybe rape has caused that baby to grow.
No matter why or how, they must focus on the now.
I have these two friends...
I wouldn’t treat either of them differently.
It is their body, it is their choice,
Let these teens be a voice.
