The Helpless
Reaching out
And reaching out.
Help the helpless
But I am the helpless.
Standing out is too much
Blending in is too little.
Here one day and gone the next.
Lost in time and space between thoughts.
Here I am something
Here I am nothing.
What is good
And what is bad?
Deciding between what I want
And what’s right.
But what I wanted was what was right.
Forced to hide the anxiety.
“It’s just a joke.”
Paint splattered over black,
Splattered over pride and happiness that comes from hard work.
"What have I done to deserve this?"
Kindness and love is all I have to offer
Peace is all I wish for.
Fighting back never wins.
And they never listen.
Giving them medicine that they make never heals.
It continues the damage.
Faith and courage from others form the backbone.
With a staff I begin to stand.
Happiness makes its way back in.
I begin to light the path with my own flame.
A flame so bright others begin to follow.
I come out strong.
Now we reach out
To help the helpless.
