Future of Success

Thu, 02/20/2014 - 22:13 -- nmader

"What do you want to do when you get older?"

The answer used to be simple, now it's heavy as a boulder.

This question I was asked countless times,

a senior in high school and it still weighing on my mind.

A therapist, a lawyer, or maybe even a nurse.

But for me it isn't about the money in my purse.

I want to make a difference. I want to help people in need.

Helping others is the only way to feel like I can succeed.

I know what career path I want to pursue,

but I don't know if all the obstacles I can push threw.

Lack of jobs, funding, and opportunities,

but I will be helping the future communities.

An education major is what I will be.

I will not let fear stop me.

Being able to teach our future generations,

showing them they have the power to rule all nations.

Each day will present new struggles to face,

but I will show children their dreams they must chase.

Seeing the smiles and hearing the laughter,

Nothing will beat knowing I made a difference from here on after.

All the years of schooling and license renewing,

All the struggles, loans, and assignment reviewing.

All the late nights, study sessions, and student teaching.

The end result is worth all the reaching.

Waking up each day knowing I will get to help each child,

Spending eight hours a day teaching new skills to be compiled.

I want to make kids excited about learning and school,

instead of having them feel like a fool.

I have made up my mind, no going back now.

I am set in my path and ready to make people "wow!"

My dream of teaching will be fulfilled,

I have made up my mind, and I couldn't be more thrilled.
