Escaping Unrequited Love

I'm starting to feel like hearts are anchors

and mine is rushing to the ground.

Only I don't want to stay here,

stranded under the beating sun.

So tell me how to jump

because no matter how many rescue ships come my way

I don't call for help.

Knowing still that I must find solid ground.

So remind me how to swim

so that the numbingly cold water will come over me

keeping me focused

even though it's hard to breathe.

And oh sweet land carry me

to your highest mountain peak

so that I may see my abandoned ship

forever stranded in his sea.
