Devour
Who will I be
when the world claims me as its own,
Anxiety of future life fills the void I fail to feel,
til the darkness is no longer creeping,
but has devoured me entirely,
Joy masks premature uncertainty
while my thoughts run rampant in flowerless doubt,
Nothingness overwhelms fear of failure
as I lay here, shrouded in the darkness of my own mind and fears,
while the banging drums draw nearer
This poem is about:
Me
My family
My community
My country
Our world
