The Devil's Apple

And just like the serpent tempted Adam and Eve with the forbidden apple,

the burning desire for you to be mine led me into your coils of damnation.

Just as Satan spoke wonders of a better life if she took a bite,

you told me about the future we could form together and I believed it with adoration.

My humanity has slipped through my own fingertips at the cost of your lies.

I will never be pure again but the dawning realization has come too late,

the venom has run its course through every crevice and vein.

I am constricted, a prisoner against the scales that harvest my new wounds.

For playing with the forbidden I face the punishment of my sins

while your soulless eyes swallow me whole, devouring any piece left of my soul.

I’ve been praying to God for you to shed your skin,

but my temptation for you has dragged me down to Hell and I no longer have faith.

I have pledged myself to a sin while praying to a man who won’t hear me

for giving myself entirely to a boy who nurses the Devil behind his eyes.

I am lost from the Garden of Eden and I can never find my way back home.
