The ground beneath my feet
Tremors with Soul and rational
Choking forth a dissonant harmony

I can feel the earth shifting
To hold my weight
Crumbling around my ankles
And ignorant stance, sinking me into the tumult

Altercation above
And wind whizzing to my wounded pride, defiant will
Compelling nature to surrender its strength

Branches bow low in limbo
Leaves spreading for the storm’s procession
Hindered not in the least by one erect trunk
Suddenly it snaps into brittle splinters

I bow to a Greater Spirit
