Cinderella

She grabbed her pearl beads

And her room key

Left her soul in agony

Cold street corners

Search for donors

Empty handed she won’t be

Empty hearted, possibly

Dying slowly, audibly

She’s crying out for a return

To love and happy home

Clean getaway, dirty money

Not to mention dirty body

Haunted, haunted, insides rotted

But free for one more day

Heroin baby, hit me up

Take me higher with your upper

Keep me from clawing at my body

Keep me safe for one more day

Take my dollar

Leave the collar

Please don’t take baby away

She’s crying out for a savior!

Desperate for someone to love her!

Sweep her off her feet and care for!

Her, and do things for her!

She doesn’t want a Prince Charming!

Just someone to keep her belonging!

Off the cold streets, warm company!

It’s all she ever wants!

Met a man in black and yellow

A real charmer, a good fellow

Swooped her up like Cinderella

Showed her what love is

Bought her things that made her sparkle

Made her shine, made her chuckle

Brought her higher than happy

He smiles, says “You work for me”

Heavier than Atlas’ world

Says “You work for me”

More powerfully, the chains recurled

Says “You work for me”

She’s crying out for a savior!

Desperate for someone to love her!

Sweep her off her feet and care for!

Her, and do things for her!

She doesn’t want a Prince Charming!

Just someone to keep her belonging!

Off the cold streets, warm company!

It’s all she ever wants!

But this is no storybook, sorry

And there is no happy ending

A terrible middle and a piss poor beginning

'Tis the life of the forgotten girl
