A Black Awakening

Tue, 03/19/2019 - 23:31 -- noc003

Today I’m gonna take you all into a world we don’t all know. A world that contains all of Us. A world with its high’s and its lows

A world where the past never escapes, the present persuades and palpitates, and the future anticipates

A world where my hair is a reflection of me. Big, loud, curly, and fun. And my skin is as bright as a star. Shiny and gold

Inside and out I’m filled with so much glory, honor, and pride as high as the sky. My black is not here for blockage. I’m destined to outshine your obnoxious lies.

A world where we burn like a flame that can never be put out. Yet constantly we’re blown on, and our flame dims- till no one can see what we’re truly about

A world that constantly endures                and where discrimination passes from generation to generation

A world where one step is taken forward but then people are pushed two steps back

A world where attempts have been made to fix things or urge us to move on

A world where they say “but slavery was so long ago”. But how could you know? When its still possible to speak with African Americans who still remember Jim Crow

A world where no amount of information strong enough to shield our formation being our foundation is circled around their humiliation

A world where our history is being tainted yet the history of others is being painted and hung on display

A world built on the bones of the enslaved which is stained with the blood of the unsaved being drained in actuality

A world where its creations and unique aspects are stripped away and considered someone elses

In this world we are outraged and we shout for a change. But how can we change this injustice that has been made?

You model us and try to print our genetic code but you will never know how hard it is to be black no matter how HARD you act you will never know how it feels to be attacked

Look at me and acknowledge me until you see what I see. Oh how I wish you could see me for me

This world might not be the same for you and me. This world may be a world that you cant even see. But this world. This world right here, this world is my reality.
