Better Than the Big C

I always knew my aunt was a fighter

Since she was a little girl she had been fighting for her life, suffering in health, but exceeding in everything else

When I think of my aunt, many characteristics come to my mind; strong, intelligent, brave, beautiful, but above all that she is the most amazing person I know

She has had hundreds of surgeries and was sick very often

At just 4 years old she had her right arm amputated

Her most recent diagnosis?

The conversation echoes in my head every day

She told me she was getting surgery, I asked what for

“on my boobies”, she answered nervously…

I asked why and she just said … The big C…

I immediately broke down, put my face into my palms and cried

This women who helped raised me, who taught me what I knew about creating a life for myself, who always supported me, who inspired me to work hard, never give up and be successful…

Had Cancer

But of course my aunt said that she is going to survive, because she is a fighter

So I know that this new disease is not going to stop her, because my aunt is better than the big C
