Because I Love You

I control who you see and what you wear, because I love you

I spend more time on my phone than spending time with you, because I love you

I flirt with other people behind your back, because I love you

I never want to communicate with you or settle our fights, because I love you

The words I love you are being misused
These words are consumed in relationships where we are often abused
Lack of trust, respect, loyalty, and communication
The concept of relationships these days fills me with frustration
We say I love you to the ones who treat us poorly
How crazy our minds can believe they're the ones, surely
But this, now this isn't true love
This is something we shouldn't be proud of
Healthy relationships shouldn't be rare
The way society treats love is so unfair
Never make me question my worth to you
I should be able to look you in your eyes and know our love is true
Let's go on a date to the nearby cafe
Don't make me sit around and watch you play 2k
Bring me up, not bring me down
Anytime I need support, you'll be around
Allow individuality and don't force change
Show me commitment, respect, and effort I promise to give it in exchange
Because I love you should never be manipulative
This society needs to cherish real love and be appreciative.
