Alone

I look around but see no one,

At least no one that I have known

For here in this forgotten world

I am all alone

No one ever tries to see

the one who peers from behind the tree,

the one who is too afraid

to let anyone know that she is me.

Yet no matter what they think

from their gazes I refuse to shrink,

for I must say strong

lest my blood become my name's ink,

All this time I walk alone

waiting for one to bestow the companionship shown

to all others onto me

for until that moment I shall be alone.
