The Color Of Darkness
Our perceptions are irrelevant we are aware that they are not important
We are deceived that the world is making a change
But I feel like these officers practice with my face in the gun range
The laws are passed but we are still slaves
We suffer but not from the chains.
You got these kids questioning what is wrong with their hair and skin
You shoot our black men in the streets
But we're insane?
But why isn't it news anymore?
Could it be posible that we won this brutal war?
Protest after protest when will our screams and cries manifest ?
Seems like our wishes will never be met so you might
as well buy a bullet proof vest.
Trayvon Martin, Philando Castile, Sandra Bland, Freddie Gray, Erick Garner
2019 and we still fight for a safe harbor
Were innocent
I swear
But I guess our skin is getting darker
Aiyana Jones, Laquan Mcdonald, Oscar Grant, Rekia Boyd, Tamir Rice
Should I keep going?
These officers never payed their price.
Bullets after bullets
What did I do wrong?
I tried to keep my eyes open
But I guess they made sure this is where I belong
My brothers are still in prison
Still innocent
As I hear my last hearbeat
I knew I became another hashtag
But my brothers and sisters
Rise from the pool of depression
We need a harmonic progression
Continue to fight but never show agression
In their eyes that is only transgression.
