The Little Red Hood
When Red was a babe
Her granny had said,
"If you're ever in trouble,
use your hood made of red"
Now we all know the tale
of that little red hood
that caused so much trouble
for a girl doing good
She carried her basket
full of baked goods and treats
to give to her granny
to give something sweet
But a wolf saw her hood,
and when he caught her scent,
he gave chase to the girl
and gave Red discontent
And when Red got away
no, the wolf did not quit
He thought up a plan
using charm and his wit
With disguise so adorned
and granny no more,
he tricked the poor girl
when she knocked on the door
"The better to see you,"
"The better to hear,"
"The better to EAT you,"
he said with a sneer.
But what most folks dont know
'bout that little red hood
is how it protected
the girl where she stood
When the wolf made to spring
at the poor little lass
Red clutched at the fabric
as the wolf made a pass
She took that old hood
that her granny had made
and threw it with force
at the wolf, unwaylaid
And the moment it touched
the snout of his face,
the wolf up and vanished!
Just gone, with no trace
She stared at her hood
lying motionless where
the bad wolf had once stood;
she would treat it with care
From now on, when Red hears
all the wolves in the night,
she remembers her granny
and the wolf she did smite.
So now we know the tale
of that little red hood,
that saved the brave soul
of a girl doing good.
