Somewhere in America, a child is born
With a dream in their eyes and a fire in their soul
But somewhere in America, that flame is dimmed

I am from watching and learning
and watching my brothers grow up
while I was in diapers.
I am from rough and tumble
From dead end baseball
the land of skinned knees
and having adventures.
And sadness can change you.
It’s changing me
in the same way that the ocean changes the shore and
the way that the kiss of rain
changes the life of a dying crop and
the way that the river erodes the bank.
The streets tangle endlessly, lined with golden lights for miles
all under a smog filled sky
Stars seem nonexistent, but are simply hiding from the chaos of a sleepless city
Cars drive day and night, with nowhere to go
As we grow stronger our love tears apart,
seeing you with other people tears me apart,
the love I have for you is amazing,
but honey you will never notice ;
Im the only girl who actually cared
