I only have one shot at this,
So I want to do it right.
How does one take a selfie,
Depicting an authentic sight?
I'm always taking pictures
and right before i post
I change them just a little
to make them liked the most.
I snap a little selfie
then turn the filters on
to hide the imperfections,
Girl in Blue wading in golden grain so tall it tickles her palms as she strides toward a nearby spruce.
She breathed in the air fresh from a recent rain.
You missed it,
everything looks wrong,
that there doesn't fit,
the moments gone.
The angles off,
the flash is too bright,
I am from plane rides at a week old,
from always knowing there was something
special about my family.
I am from always knowing I was adopted.
Pictures are memories
Not to erase
Pictures are memories
Not disgrace
Look them often
Whether good or bad
Because pictures of memories
Might be all you have
If I could give you anything
Anything, anything at all
I would give you the gift of words
Words spurred from a place deep within you,
Words buried so deep, The word “deep” itself
Is a picture a picture if it's all just white?
It’s just a blank canvas, that isn't right,
Just sitting there, alone, without any life,
And it sure ain't worth no pretty price.
