Closed to the futureUnwilling to see it passclosed to the darkness
Met only by chanceI was working that dayand you seemed so, so sadand so angry.
My giftit called to methat same dayI wrote a lettertelling you I caredand to never give up on life.
Oh, I ran awayfrom my very emotionsso I wouldn’t feel.
Oh, I would not feelbut it is essential to feelwe are all human.
I am an empathI feel so very deeplyI can’t turn it off.
My empathy is something I prize highly
I know how to heal, to help people lightly
I know what they need to hear and do
This is a skill I'd even since young knew
But heavily it takes it's toll
I am not an empath,
How could I possibly protect myself to lie and say;
After experiencing it all second hand,
More and more each day
Inside Out
I was born into this world inside out,
with more than just my heart on my sleeve -
my soul covers my skin like a thin cloud of smoke.
An empath
Just a ProSonderer
Nothing more
But quick to learn
every human’s soul
will be instinctively felt
just as the breeze flows
Tell me, love, can you feel me absorbing your emotions as if they're what's fueling my very existence?
Did you feel my soul get whisked away by the wind made by the force used to slam the door behind you?
