Empathy

Tell me, love, can you feel me absorbing your emotions as if they're what's fueling my very existence?
Did you feel my soul get whisked away by the wind made by the force used to slam the door behind you?
Did your eyes only see red? Or could they see me watching you? Watching the rage drip out of every pore.
Tell me love, how did my tears feel? How did my anguish and frustration taste?

On happier days, can you feel my smile like the sun kissing your shoulders?
Does my voice feel like a slight breeze, or like a hurricane?
Can you taste my bliss? I can taste yours.
Does my body feel like calm waves?

On sadder days I know you feel my pain.
Can you tell I feel yours, even when you wear your mask and act as though you had not a care in the world?
Can you tell I feel you, even when I'm not around you?
Did you know you're always in my thoughts? Its almost as though you'll never truly leave me, even if I'm alone.

Can you feel me now?
Can you feel my heart bolted in tight by the wrench you screamed at me?
Can you hear my pounding fists against the bed? Or my muffled sobs?
Can you feel me? Or did you lie when you said you could?
